I have been giving more that a bit of thought to the vocation of this site.
I know it will be about free and skeptical thinking. Furthermore it will be about
free thought in the larger sense. See me brief essay on

We challenge far too little these days. Too many of us take as fact a vast amount
of rubbish that is pushed our way by politicians, business, advertisers, preachers
and many others.
When is the last time you looked at an advertisement skeptically and just debunked it on the fly?
We are being fed a constant stream of "fertilizer" from every direction.
We are being bombarded by pseudo science supporting absurd products. Too many swallow it all.
What about "social media"?
While it certainly has had an impact on politics in a number of parts of the world
in recent years, what about the impact it is having on social relationships
and privacy? Are we handing our lives over to others to run?
Actually, that is why I choose to post on my own web sites rather than
avail myself of the vaster audiences available on social media. I like my privacy.
I hope to use this site to stimulate folks to think, learn and challenge.
I do not intend it to be a center of controversy and political action - there
are others in that business.
I should warn you that I am currently hosting this on an ancient UNIX system in my basement
so I make no commitments to its performance or stability.
It is, however, cheap and pretty private.
